Love hurts
A Hudson man was airlifted to a Bangor hospital Thursday morning with a head injury suffered when he reportedly jumped from a moving vehicle while arguing with its female driver.Christopher Beayon, 18, of Hudson was injured at 9:35 a.m. on West Main Street when he jumped from a 2007 Chevrolet Avero driven by Regina Viney, 22, of Westbrook, according to Searsport police. He initially was taken by Searsport Ambulance to Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast and later was taken by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Searsport Police Chief Richard LaHaye said Viney told him that she and Beayon were arguing when he suddenly opened the passenger door and jumped out of the vehicle. Viney saw him hit the pavement and immediately stopped the car and ran back about 15 yards to protect Beayon from being hit by oncoming traffic, he said. Read more...

It took Ukrainian rescuers three hours to release a man whose arm got stuck in a toilet when he tried to retrieve money he had dropped, the ukranews.com portal said on Monday.The 47-year-old tried to make a diving catch when his 200 hryvnias ($24) fell into a public toilet in the northern Ukrainian city of Chernigov. In his efforts to rescue his cash, he got his arm hopelessly stuck up to his elbow.
The emergency workers removed tiles, drilled the toilet out of concrete floor and cut the outlet pipe, but the man's arm remained trapped in the chute. Hydraulic shears and a plumber's torch were finally used to cut the man free. Read more...

A Marshall County woman is in the city jail here for having her 13-year-old daughter ride in a cardboard box atop her van.Albertville Police spokesman Sgt. Jamie Smith said Jackie Denise Knott, 37, of Albertville was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Smith said the child was turned over to a relative. Read more...

Jack Thompson, the disbarred crusader against violent video games, has sued Facebook, alleging site users posted violent threats against him. In a Facebook group called "I Hate Jack Thompson", one post in particular was singled out and mentioned in the lawsuit. Wyoming police say an 11-year-old boy driving a large SUV led officers on a high speed chase reaching speeds of 100 mph.Bureau of Indian Affairs police say the chase started about 3 a.m. Tuesday near Riverton in central Wyoming and ended about 50 miles away near Crowheart on the Wind River Reservation.
