Simple Solution - Stop Getting Arrested

Linda Jackson is irate that every time she is booked into the Shawnee County Jail she is charged a $45 book-in fee.

When she missed a court appearance tied to a book-in fee, a warrant was issued for her arrest, Jackson said.

The book-in fee can generate an ugly cycle of arrests and expenses that some clients, who are poor, just can’t pay, said Scott Gesner, the assistant Shawnee County public defender representing Jackson. Read more...

Didn't try very hard, did ya?

Police in Michigan say a man who held up a gas station left behind a major clue - a piece of paper bearing a name and address. Police said they went to the address and arrested a 42-year-old suspect. The holdup took place Tuesday at a Speedway station in the Grand Rapids suburb of Kentwood.

Police told The Grand Rapids Press the robber told the station clerk he had a gun. He appeared to be holding a weapon beneath a piece of paper. Read more...

Middlesex County…ironic

An airman from Robins Air Force Base, Ga., has been arraigned on child enticement charges after allegedly meeting a 14-year-old girl on the social networking Web site, Facebook, and spending a night with her in a Massachusetts hotel.

Police arrested Airman 1st Class Christopher Stevens, 19, of Missouri on June 5 after finding him in a hotel room with the girl, who was reported missing by her parents the previous night. Read more...

With enemies like these...

If you were a baby copperhead snake in Montgomery County and you wanted to bite someone, you could do a whole lot worse than pick Sam Pettengill.

For starters, there was the place the snake slithered into: Pettengill's studio apartment at Kunzang Palyul Choling, a Buddhist temple near Poolesville, next to woods by the Potomac River. Animals are loved there.

Then there is Pettengill himself, who was still laid up yesterday at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. The 36-year-old has been known to buy crickets and worms from bait shops, bring them back to the woods and set them free. Read more...

Quite shocking...

A man was shocked while descending a rappel rope on a high voltage power line tower behind his house on Monday.

Eugene Scott Duncan was rappelling down the side of the tower when he hit the power line and fell to the ground, according to a press release from the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department. Read more...
