Happy Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest is a 16 to 18-day festival running from mid- or late September to the first Sunday in October. Brewmaster Paul Segura has explained in the past that Oktoberfest is a big celebration that has been happening for centuries in Germany to celebrate the marriage of King Ludwig I & Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen in 1810. It’s estimated that more than 7.7 million litres of beer are consumed every year at Oktoberfest in Munich.
However, you don’t have to travel to Germany to get an authentic Oktoberfest Lager. In fact, Danielle and Brewmaster Paul invited a panel of some of the best Oktoberfest Lager producers in San Diego to join them on Beer for Breakfast ABV. Clayton LeBlanc (brewmaster of Eppig Brewing), Peter Zein (owner of Alesmith Brewing), & Doug Constantiner (founder of Societe Brewing) each brought their take on the classic Oktoberfest Lager style. Oktoberfest Beers come once a year so be sure to get your fill before they’re all gone! Prost!
